I am one of those people who prefer sleeping on their side. For some reason, I find it hard to sleep on my back. There have been countless times in the past when I have lain in bed for a couple of hours on my back but never falling asleep. Sleeping on my side, specifically the left side, has often been the solution for me. If I lie on my left side, I fall asleep within minutes. By sleeping on my side, I have added more hours to my daily sleep, and that will always be a good thing.
There is, however, one problem with sleeping on your side: neck pain. Lately, I have been feeling this nagging pain in the neck every single time I wake up. My wife tells me it has something to do with the pillow I use. I use a normal pillow, and all I do is prop it up to a point where it’s comfortable for me, then I sleep soundly. What I didn’t know is that the moment I doze off, the pillow I’m using could be sinking lower, or maybe my head slides off the pillow as I sleep soundly. I am still sleeping, but my neck may already be in a position where there is too much stress on it, and that is perhaps the reason why I get neck pain when I wake up.
So I went to the doctor and asked for recommendations. He said I should change my pillow and then recommended the Mediflow Waterbase Pillow, saying it’s what most of his patients who have neck problems use. He then told me that his patients no longer complain about neck pain, and that could only mean it is the best pillow for neck pain. So my wife bought me one as soon as we left the doctor’s office.
If water beds are designed to help people with bad backs, waterbase pillows were made to help with neck problems. Ever since I used the Mediflow Waterbase Pillow, the intensity of the pain in my neck has been reduced significantly. Perhaps this is because it is designed to respond to every move your head and neck makes while sleeping, and that response gives the assurance that your head and neck have full support all night long.
The thing is I read somewhere that this pillow has been in existence since 1994. Had I known, I could have bought one a long time ago saved me a lot of NSAIDs.
